1. Agreement

This is the licence for the ASCIIHOLE game software, the ASCIIHOLE website and the ASCIIHOLE online service ("ASCIIHOLE"), operated by President ASCIIHOLE ("we", "us"). By installing or playing ASCIIHOLE, or signing in, you agree to it. If you don't agree, don't install it, and delete it.

2. Your licence

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and play ASCIIHOLE on your own devices for your own entertainment. We keep all rights in the game: its code, artwork, cards, characters, names, music selection and design. Third-party parts (LÖVE, the Kenney sound effects, the music) stay under their own licences, listed on the credits page.

3. What you can't do

• Sell, rent, share or redistribute the game, the installers or your access to them.
• Reverse engineer, decompile or extract assets from the game, except where the law says you can regardless of this licence.
• Cheat, exploit bugs, tamper with the game or the server, or interfere with other players' games.
• Use bots or scripts against the online service, or try to get around the sign-in, the device limit or the licence checks.
• Harass other players, or use a name or room that is abusive or unlawful.

4. Accounts and devices

You sign in with a Google account. Your licence is tied to that email address. One email can be signed in on one device at a time; to move, sign in on the new device. After you sign in, the game keeps working offline for up to 14 days before it needs to check in again. Don't share your account. We can suspend or remove access to anyone who breaks this agreement.

5. Online play

Multiplayer and cloud save run on our server. We try to keep it running but don't promise it will always be available, and we may change, pause or end online features. Single player runs on your machine and works offline.

6. Your data

When you sign in we store your Google account details (email, name, profile picture, locale and Google ID), an ID for your device, and when you play online we store your cloud save, your round results and some game stats (with the game version, device and device type). We also note the approximate country you connect from, which Cloudflare tells us (we keep the two-letter country only, never your IP address or city), when you were last seen, and which files you download. If you give the game a Jev API key, it is stored with your account so it follows you between devices. We use this to run the game: sign-in, the licence, the device limit, cloud save, fixing bugs and balancing the game. We don't sell it. Ask us to delete your account and data and we will.

Jev is a third-party service that powers some of the game's decisions. Where the game uses it, it sends game information to Jev under your own key, and Jev's terms apply to that.

7. Updates

The game checks for updates and installs them for you. Updates apply the next time you start the game. We may add, change or remove features at any time.

8. No warranty

ASCIIHOLE is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. It is in development and may have bugs, lose progress or change. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for the game. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can't be limited.

9. Ending this agreement

You can stop at any time by deleting the game. We can end your licence if you break these terms. Then you must stop using the game and delete your copies.

10. Changes and law

We may update this agreement. If we make a material change, the game or website will tell you, and carrying on means you accept it. This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
